As the 17th largest state in America, South Dakota spans from the Missouri River region along the eastern border of the state to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains bordering Montana and Wyoming. With the 5 th smallest population, the Mount Rushmore State is named after two Native American tribes that flourished in the grassland region of the state. Terrain in the state covers a wide spectrum of geographic categories, from rolling grassland hills out west to fertile farming land in the east that generates a significant amount of agricultural revenue for family farmers. South Dakotas is best known for two granite carved attractions: Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial.
How Does the South Dakota Climate Affect Window Treatment Choice?
Despite being a large state covering several distinct geographic regions, there is one common weather element found in South Dakota. With South Dakota ranked as one of the top five windiest states in the country, homeowners have to consider window treatments that remain strong against wind gusts that flow indoors during the warmer months of the year. During winter when the wind kicks up to another notch, homeowners need to consider functionality when shopping for window treatments.
What are the Popular Current Design Trends around Window Blinds in South Dakota?
Popular South Dakota home design trends lead to two different styles of structures. In the eastern half of the state, homeowners typically live in one floor brick homes that expand a considerable length to accommodate families. This means homeowners look to add window treatments that are more about aesthetic appeal than functionality. For the western half of South Dakota, ranch and lodge themed structures require a more rugged window treatment to withstand Mother Nature’s fury during the winter months. Treated wood blinds blend flawlessly with the dominant wood constructed homes in the western region.
What are Your Most Popular Window Treatments for South Dakota Residents?
Wooden blinds are not just about presenting a country ambiance for a home. The blinds can also create a contemporary look for homes that cover the vast landscape of Rapid City. With a wide variety of color and texture options, wooden blinds remain the most popular window treatment for South Dakota residents. Honeycomb cellular blinds, which are highly effective at optimizing energy use, work well in a state that experiences frequent high winds. With flat, horizontal slats, Venetian blinds comes with specially treated ladder cords to maintain even spaces between the slats. Many South Dakota residents choose versatile aluminum blinds to match unique interior decors.

These blinds are beautiful--color is perfect and quality is very good. They fit perfectly inside the windows.
The only complaint I might have is that the little pulls on the cords are not a good color match. When I ordered the samples a couple of months ago, it was stated that the wood pulls would match the color ordered, and they don't seem to. Other than that, the blinds are great.
